Journal Revenue Sources and Editorial Independence
JSSAL operates on a diamond open access model and is sustained through institutional support. The journal's revenue sources are as follows:
- Institutional support: Since 2025, JSSAL's DOI registration fees have been financially supported by Technische Universität Chemnitz (TU Chemnitz) through DataCite membership.
- Government funding: During its initial three years (2021–2023), JSSAL was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and supported by Academics in Solidarity.
- Article Processing Charges (APCs): None. JSSAL does not charge authors or readers any fees.
- Subscriptions: None. All content is freely and immediately accessible upon publication.
- Advertising: None. JSSAL does not accept any form of advertising, and no commercial content is displayed on the website or in published articles.
Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of academic merit and are completely independent of any financial considerations, institutional support, or revenue sources. Publishing fees or waiver status do not influence editorial decision making in any way.
